About Sanjugo

Our journey began in 2016, aspiring to share an authentic Japanese experience with London.

The name 'Sanjugo' (叁十伍) itself is rich with meaning and a touch of clever wordplay. While 'Sanjugo' translates to 'thirty-five' in Japanese, its Kanji characters offer a deeper insight.

'San' (叁) stands for three, and 'Go' (伍) for five. Uniquely, the central character 'Ju' (十), which typically means ten, is here ingeniously interpreted as a mathematical plus sign ('+').

San 叁

Ju 十

Go 伍

This transforms the name into the beautiful calculation 3 + 5, equaling 8 – a number cherished in Japan as a symbol of fortune, luck, joy, and wealth.

Across our London locations, we invite you to discover a delightful variety of Japanese delicacies designed to comfort your soul. We are committed to exceptional customer service, using only the freshest ingredients to craft the highest quality sushi, sashimi, and carefully selected sake.

At Sanjugo, we embody the true essence of a Japanese Izakaya, offering a cosy and welcoming environment for you to relax, dine, and enjoy.
