The extensive selection of premium Japanese sake, Scotch whisky, beers and cocktails has been carefully curated by Executive Chef & Owner, Jerry, formerly of Harrods Sushi Bar, Sushisamba, Roka & Umu. Jerry brings over 20 years' experience in fine dining and drinking establishments to Sanjugo and its new sake and whisky bar.
Stepping into the bar on the second floor of Sanjugo Shoreditch transports you into an izakaya style bar with its classy and formal setting. The bartenders are well-versed in the best sake and whisky to try, as there are so many different sakes and whiskies to choose from that it can be difficult to decide which one to try.
When asked about his favourite drink on the menu, Executive Chef Jerry stated, "I adore every bottle in our collection for various reasons; I cannot pick a favourite." "We want to revolutionise the bar drinking experience in London by providing our guests with the finest sake and whisky beverages," he said when asked why he decided to open the bar. Sanjugo's avant-garde motif is reflected in their sake cocktails, most notably the Sakura Sunrise, Sanjugo's house special sake cocktail inspired by the Japanese blossom tree, known in Japan as Sakura (桜). This cocktail combines two sake wines, strawberry syrup and a peach spritz to perfection.
